President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday once again shot back against embattled Senator Leila de Lima, saying that she deserved to be in jail for her involvement in illegal drugs activities.
In an interview over state-run PTV-4, Duterte said that De Lima deserves to remain in jail at the custodial center in Camp Crame, since the illegal drugs charges against the senator are valid.
“Itong kaso ni De Lima, totoo talaga ‘to… and the Americans know that already,” Duterte said.
He likewise shot back against the lady senator, for portraying herself as a “prisoner of conscience.”
“You start with the tapes of the… in x-rated, between De Lima and the driver. Because diyan nag-umpisa ang corruption niya… sa driver niya.”
“Maniwala ba kayo na inimbento lahat yon? Pati yung lahat nasa loob, pati yung driver niya na mahal niya.”
“Then she’s claiming she’s a prisoner of conscience. Would you believe it’s invented?… Do not blame anybody. Frankly speaking, on this planet, it’s your life. You are responsible for all what’s happening in your life,” he added.
Voting 9-6, the Supreme Court en banc last Tuesday junked De Lima’s petition, saying it is the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court, rather than the anti-graft court Sandiganbayan, that has jurisdiction over the drug trade cases filed against her.
