The Metro Manila Development Authority on Thursday resumed its road clearing operations, this time along Taft Avenue from Epifanio de los Santos Avenue to Baclaran, to ease road congestion and ensure public order in the area.
MMDA chairman Danilo Lim led the operation removing illegal structures, mostly stalls of vendors and illegally parked vehicles such as pedicabs, tricycles and private cars.
He said the state of congestion in the area has reached critical levels, with motorists and pedestrians finding it near impossible to get through.
Lim said the implementation of the anti-obstruction campaign is in line with the thrust of President Rodrigo Duterte to improve the flow of traffic, prevent accidents and maintain public order and discipline.
