Funeral benefits for private and government workers will be increased after President Rodrigo Duterte signed Executive Orders directing its implementation.
On Wednesday, Duterte signed Executive Order No. 33 which said that employees in the private and public sectors will now receive higher funeral benefits under the Employees’ Compensation Program, from the current P20,000 to P30,000.
ECP implementor, Employees’ Compensation Commission, and ECP administrators, the Social Security System for the private sector and the Government Service Insurance System for the public sector, were directed to appropriate and release the amounts necessary to cover the increase in benefits.
The increases will be allotted from the reserves of the State Insurance Fund that the SSS and GSIS administer under the ECP.
