More than 400 soldiers from Western Visayas are heading to Marawi City on Saturday.
They will augment the government forces fighting the Maute terrorists.
A send-off ceremony for the soldiers was held at Iloilo International Airport.
This is just before they boarded the C-130 plane of the Philippine Army that will take them to strife-torn Marawi.
Some of the families of the soldiers were seen weeping as they hugged farewell to the combatants.
Military and local government officials were on hand to boost the morale of the soldiers who are off to battle.
The terrorists still control four barangays in Marawi City.
