Warrants of arrest for 20 policemen involved in the killing of Albuera Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr. have been issued.

PNP Chief Ronald Dela Rosa said this in a press briefing in Camp Crame.

He further stated, the policemen linked to Espinosa's death are all accounted for in Leyte.

The PNP is just waiting for the court to give instruction on where the cops will be detained.

The return of arrest warrants may be performed by the police within the day.

On December 6, 2017, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) recommended the filing of multiple murder and perjury charges against 24 members of the raiding team that entered the detention cell of Espinosa in a sub-provincial jail in Baybay City on November 5, 2016.

The raid in the mayor’s jail was conducted by members of the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection group (CIDG)-Region 8 and the Regional Maritime Group.

This incident resulted in the death of the Espinosa and another inmate.

PNP-CIDG-Region 8 (Eastern Visayas) Director Supt. Marvin Marcos leads the list of respondents in the murder charges.
