Trike driver’s killers shot

Policemen have cornered the suspects who shot dead tricycle driver Micheal Young on August 22 after a video of the shooting captured on CCTV went viral on social media. 

Police report showed that at about 11:20 p.m. on August 27 personnel from Precinct 2 received a call from Emergency Hotline 911 regarding an incident of indiscriminate firing involving two unidentified male suspects on Tanigue Street, Dagat-Dagatan Avenue in Caloocan.

Responding policemen spotted the unidentified male suspects armed with handguns who speedily fled on a motorcycle towards C-3 Road and they eventually cornered the fugitives at a checkpoint on Pamasawata, Caloocan City.

Police said the suspects fired at the responding police team, prompting the latter to shoot them dead.

The Northern Police District’s scene of the crime operatives led by Sr. Insp. Sonny Boy Tepace recovered from the crime scene four small heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu; a .38-caliber pistol marked Armscor 202 with three live ammunition; three cartridges; one .45-caliber “paltik” (homemade gun) with an open chamber; and one red motorcycle without a license plate.

Further investigation disclosed that the recovered .38-caliber pistol was taken from the security of guard of Maybank by armed suspects wearing bonnets and face masks and who later boarded motorcycles at the corner of 10th  and Rizal Avenues.

The investigators are currently waiting for the results of the cross matching examination from SOCO for the confirmation.

Meanwhile, NPD Director Roberto Fajardo commended the policemen for their hard work and timely response. He also thanked public for helping the police fight criminality.
