Red alert has been raised over La Mesa Dam in Quezon City.

La Mesa Dam Manager Teddy Angeles says, water level in the dam is at 79.62 meters as of 12 noon Saturday.

The overflow level is at 80.15 meters.

Angeles says, the water level in the dam is currently rising at 6 centimeters per hour.

He is asking local government units to effect a preventive evacuation of residents in low-lying areas near the water reservoir.

Angeles warns, the dam may overflow in 10 hours or less if the rains will continue to pour.

Water in La Mesa dam flows down to Tullahan River.

Should the dam overflow, it will affect parts of Fairview, Forest Hill, Quirino Highway, Capri, Goodwill Homes, Santa Quiteria and San Bartolome in Quezon City as well as Ligon, North Expressway and Huerta in Valenzuela City.

It may also bring floods to some portions of Navotas and Malabon.
