Various sectors have expressed admiration for former 1Tahanan Party-list Rep. Nathaniel Oducado, who stepped down from his post on Tuesday (May 19), citing health issues.
In a statement, 1Tahanan Party-list cited Oducado’s consistent dedication to public service, his legislative work, and his quiet commitment to helping those in need.
The group said supporters and beneficiaries described Oducado as a simple, honest, and compassionate leader who placed the welfare of ordinary Filipinos above personal interests. Many regard him as a public servant defined by integrity and genuine concern for the people, it added.
“During his term in Congress, Oducado filed several measures focused on housing, livelihood, education, and programs aimed at improving the lives of Filipino families, especially those from marginalized communities. He was also known for extending assistance discreetly, without seeking publicity,” the group added.
Even as he confirmed his resignation, Oducado stressed that his desire to serve the country remains unchanged.
“Although I may no longer serve as a congressman, my commitment to helping our fellow Filipinos and contributing to our country in any way I can will remain,” he said.
Party-mates, who requested anonymity, said Oducado is among the few politicians recognized for genuine compassion and clean intentions in public service. They noted that he chose to step back from politics to focus on personal matters while continuing to help others privately.
“Rep. Nathaniel Oducado is an example of a truly honorable public servant. Even in quiet ways, people can genuinely feel his compassion and sincerity,” they said.
Despite his departure from Congress, the party believes Oducado will continue to inspire others through his integrity, humility, and steadfast commitment to serving the Filipino people.
