The number of young Filipinos registering for the 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE) and the first-ever parliamentary elections in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) has surged to more than 60,000, according to the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
Latest data from Comelec showed that 63,360 individuals have registered for the 2026 BSKE and the Bangsamoro parliamentary polls as of March 11. The figure includes 31,192 female registrants and 31,552 male registrants.’
Among the provinces, Lanao del Sur recorded the highest number of registrants at 15,936, followed by Maguindanao del Norte with 13,585, Maguindanao del Sur with 9,636, and Basilan with 9,494.
Meanwhile, Tawi-Tawi logged 7,686 registrants, including 616 voters who signed up through the Register Anywhere Program sites in the province. The Special Geographic Area in Cotabato posted the lowest number of registrants with 7,023.
The Comelec resumed voters’ registration in the BARMM on Feb. 9 in preparation for the upcoming local and parliamentary elections. The registration period, originally set to end on March 30, has been extended until March 31 to allow more eligible voters to sign up.
