Quezon City has been named one of 72 newly designated members of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization’s (UNESCO) Global Network of Learning Cities.
Mayor Joy Belmonte said the recognition affirms the city’s belief that learning extends beyond classrooms and across all stages of life.
“We stand with UNESCO in the belief that inclusive, excellent, and high-quality learning helps create and reinforce individual empowerment and social cohesion,” Belmonte said.
The citation recognizes the city’s efforts to promote inclusive education, strengthen public schools, and foster lifelong learning through libraries, skills programs, and cultural initiatives.
With 425 member cities in 91 countries, the network now includes four Philippine cities: Balanga, Legazpi, Baguio, and Quezon City.
