PBBM trust rating dips—OCTA

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s trust rating fell by nine percentage points to 48%, while Vice President Sara Duterte’s trust rating climbed by two percentage points to 53%, based on a survey by the OCTA Research group.

In the latest Tugon ng Masa (TNM) survey, results showed that 31% of Filipino adults expressed distrust in the president.

Trust ratings for Mr. Marcos declined across all major regions, with the National Capital Region (NCR) and Balance Luzon recording the steepest drops of 13 percentage points each.

Trust also fell by seven percentage points in Mindanao and three percentage points in the Visayas.

During the same period, Marcos’ distrust rating rose by six percentage points, with increases noted in most regions.

The largest jump was observed in Mindanao, where distrust grew by 10 percentage points, followed by Balance Luzon with an eight-point increase and NCR with a four-point rise, while the Visayas saw a slight two-point decline in distrust.

The survey also revealed that 51% of Filipino adults expressed satisfaction with the president’s performance, down three percentage points from 54% in the third quarter of 2025.

His performance ratings varied by region, ranging from 42% to 58%. The highest rating was recorded in Balance Luzon at 58%, while the lowest was in Mindanao at 42%, followed by 43% in NCR.

Meanwhile, a little over half, or 52%, of Filipino adults expressed trust in Vice President Duterte, reflecting a two-percentage-point increase from 51% in the third quarter of 2025.

Her trust ratings varied widely by region, peaking in Mindanao at 89% and dipping to 36% in Balance Luzon, followed by 41% in NCR.

In contrast, 26% of adult Filipinos reported distrust in Duterte. Her highest distrust ratings were in NCR at 37% and Balance Luzon at 34%, compared with 22% in the Visayas and just 6% in Mindanao.

OCTA noted that Duterte’s overall distrust rating rose by two percentage points.

Regionally, distrust increased most sharply in Balance Luzon by six percentage points, edged up by one percentage point in the Visayas, and declined by three percentage points in Mindanao.

On performance, 54% of respondents expressed satisfaction with Duterte’s performance, up five percentage points from 49% in the third quarter of 2025.

She posted her highest performance rating in Mindanao at 79%, while the lowest was in Balance Luzon at 41%.

Dissatisfaction was highest in NCR at 41% and in Balance Luzon at 37%, compared with 24% in the Visayas and 7% in Mindanao.

The face-to-face survey was conducted from December 16 to 20 among 1,200 respondents aged 18 and above.

The survey has a ±3% margin of error at a 95% confidence level. Subnational estimates for Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao have margins of error of ±6%.
