PNP reaffirms stance vs. domestic violence

PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) chief Gen.Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., on Monday reaffirmed their firm stance against any form of domestic violence as he ordered an inquiry on a police corporal accused of abusing his family.

Nartatez issued the statement as he directed concerned units to fully cooperate with the National Police Commission looking into the case involving the policeman detailed at the Sapangdalaga municipal police force in Misamis Occidental.

“The PNP takes all domestic violence allegations very seriously. As police officers, our personnel should serve as role models in observing them and to ensure that they are enforced well,” Nartatez stressed. “The PNP has no room for any person who deliberately inflicts harm on anybody, much more his own family. As law enforcers, we should serve and protect the people, not to threaten or harm them,” he added.
