The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) assured victim-survivors of violence against women and children (VAWC) of a comprehensive package of services aimed at their recovery and reintegration.
DSWD spokesperson Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao said the agency, together with other government partners and its social workers, remains committed to supporting VAWC victim-survivors through sustained assistance and guidance.
As chair of the Inter-Agency Council on Violence Against Women and Children (IACVAWC), Dumlao said the department implements programs and initiatives to address and prevent all forms of abuse against women and children.
She said the agency provides temporary shelter through its centers and residential care facilities, along with services focused on restoring social functioning.
These include the provision of basic needs, health services, vocational counseling, psychosocial support, and gender-responsive interventions.
“The DSWD focuses on social welfare interventions, particularly the recovery and reintegration of victim-survivors. We ensure our protocols are gender-responsive and prioritize protection through training and safe spaces,” Dumlao said.
The DSWD also refers victim-survivors to other government agencies for additional assistance, including legal services.
Dumlao said referral pathway services ensure access to legal guidance and, when necessary, financial assistance for fees related to filing cases.
