THE Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) aims to revive its four-year scholarship program for children of farmer-beneficiaries under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program to help address the country’s aging farm workforce and ensure long-term food security.
Agrarian Reform Secretary Conrado Estrella III said the agency is exploring ways to mobilize funds to provide free education to deserving children of agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs).
Estrella said the program aims to mold farmers’ children into active partners in countryside development, stressing that education is a critical tool in empowering the next generation of agri-leaders.
“Sooner or later, the farm lots awarded to their parents will be passed on to them. We must prepare them through quality education and exposure to modern farming technologies,” he said.
