TINGOG Party-List Rep. Jude Acidre has welcomed the increase in funding for State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) under the recently signed Republic Act 12314, or the General Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2026.
As chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Higher and Technical Education, Acidre said the total allocation of P137.904 billion for 113 SUCs reflects a P9.079-billion increase from the original proposal.
Acidre also sees it as “a strong vote of confidence” in public higher education.
He emphasized that the funding milestone would not have been possible without the close partnership and tireless efforts of SUC leaders across the country.
Lawmakers incluing Acidre worked hand-in-hand with CHED Chairperson Shirley Agrupis and PASUC president Dr. Tirso Ronquillo.
