Commuters and motorists are advised to personally adjust in their trips as a full temporary road closure will be in effect along the southbound route of the EDSA Kamuning Busway station on Monday, Jan. 12until Thursday, Jan. 15, from 1:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.
The scheduled road works are expected to cause heavy traffic, but were necessary for the completion of a new Kamuning Footbridge in Quezon City, officially known as the Scout Borromeo-NIA South Road Footbridge.
Locals have jestingly called it “Mt. Kamuning” due to its steep ascent.
EDSA Carousel bus routes will be maintained, but the buses are not allowed to make a pit stop at the Kamuning station. Commuters are, therefore, advised to use nearby bus stops such as Quezon Avenue or Nepa Q-Mart in Cubao.
Private motorists are likewise enjoined to take alternate routes.
President Marcos has approved the project and tasked the Department of Transportation (DOTr) to demolish and replace the badly-designed pedestrian walkway. The DOTr then bared plans to build a more accessible footbridge deemed more convenient for the general public.
Last November, DOTr Acting Secretary Giovanni Lopez inspected the construction of the new footbridge, which was projected to have a modern design with a wheelchair lift for persons with disability (PWD).
