The meeting will also focus on regional and international issues, including the Philippines’ chairship of ASEAN and the situation in the South China Sea.

Motegi’s official visit coincides with the 70th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Japan, which is being commemorated this year.

In December, both governments unveiled a commemorative logo to celebrate the diplomatic relations milestone.
