The Coast Guard immediately deployed BRP Tubbataha with a medical team from Medical–Southwestern Mindanao from Bengo Wharf in Zamboanga City.

The team reached the vessel at around 11:30 a.m. south of ENS Majini Pier of Naval Station Romulo Espaldon in Zamboanga City.

The patient was safely retrieved and transported back to Bengo Wharf at 12:07 p.m., where he was turned over to the Bureau of Quarantine and MED-SWM before being rushed to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

In a social media post, Chinese Embassy Deputy Spokesperson Guo Wei recognized the PCG’s timely assistance to the foreign national.

“Sincere thanks to PCG for extending timely assistance to the Chinese crew member,” he said.
