The Philippine National Police reported on Saturday that the country’s overall crime rate declined by 12.4% in 2025 compared to 2024.
Focus crimes fell from 40,771 cases in 2024 to 35,717 last year, with reductions recorded in murder, homicide, rape, physical injury, theft, robbery, and vehicle theft.
Rape posted the steepest decline at 22.68%, followed by motor vehicle theft at 20.18%, while murder and homicide cases also dropped significantly.
Police data further showed an 11.64% decrease in crime during the latter part of 2025, comparing two equal 128-day periods.
PNP chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said the sustained decline reflects effective crime prevention strategies and assured intensified law enforcement efforts in 2026.
