No work in all gov’t offices on Dec. 29, Jan. 2

Malacañang announced yesterday the suspension of work in all government offices on December 29, 2025, and January 2, 2026.

The directive was contained in a Memorandum Circular No. 111 issued by Acting Executive Secretary Ralph Recto by authority of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

It said that the cancellation of work was to allow employees to observe New Year’s Day activities and allow travel to and from the regions.

Moreover, agencies providing basic, vital and health services, as well as those tasked with preparedness and response duties, were directed to remain fully operational during the work suspension.

The memo said the decision aims to give government workers “full opportunity” to celebrate the holiday and spend time with their families.

Meanwhile, work suspension in private companies and offices will be left to the discretion of their respective heads, the circular added.
