The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has destroyed a shipment of forfeited goods in a bid to strengthen government efforts to protect public health, Customs chief Ariel Nepomuceno said .
He said BOC–Port of Zamboanga disposed of 281 bales of used clothing, 153 sacks of sugar, and 28 boxes of medicines.

The items were seized for violating Republic Act 4653 and Republic Act 9711, in relation to Section 117 of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.
The disposal activity was streamed live to promote transparency in customs operations. Representatives from the local government witnessed the event, while the Sugar Regulatory Administration and the Commission on Audit monitored the proceedings through the livestream.
