DILG, PNP tasked to ensure public safety amid ongoing rallies

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has ordered security agencies to ensure public safety while exercising maximum tolerance amid the ongoing protests in various parts of Metro Manila, a Palace official said.

In an interview with PTV on Sunday night, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro stated that the President is closely monitoring the situation and has instructed the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) to continue their work protecting the public, adding that maximum tolerance remains the standing directive.

Castro also dismissed claims of friction between the administration and the  Iglesia ni Cristo (INC), saying members of the religious bloc also support the president’s aim to hold accountable all those involved in the anomalous flood control projects and infrastructure.

“We know that the members of the INC are joining in the president’s aim to hold accountable all those involved in the anomalous flood control projects and infrastructure,” Castro stated.

Castro assured that investigations are ongoing and being carried out swiftly.

“The government is working fast, and they respond to the wishes of our fellow citizens to hold accountable those who should be held accountable,” she said.

Castro urged the public not to direct anger at the President, saying he is the one pushing for investigations.

“The people involved want the president out of office so that their ‘good times’ can continue,” she said.

“Once the president is out of office, this investigative effort will likely end, especially if they are allies of those being targeted,” she added.
