The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) announced that 50 domestic flights scheduled for Sunday and Monday have been canceled due to severe tropical storm Uwan.
The cancellations affect 34 flights from Cebu Pacific and CebGo, and 16 from Philippine Airlines, impacting thousands of travelers in several provinces, including Cebu, Naga, Tuguegarao, and Laoag.
PAL said the move was made “for the safety of passengers” as Uwan, internationally known as Fung-Wong, is expected to bring heavy rains and strong winds over Luzon and the Visayas. Cebu Pacific also warned of possible further disruptions in the coming days.
CAAP spokesperson Eric Apolonio said the agency continues to monitor the storm’s progress and will release updates as needed.
Uwan is forecast to intensify and may become a super typhoon before its projected landfall in Central or Northern Luzon between Aurora and Isabela.
