Foreign embassies and ambassadors in the Philippines sent messages of support to the victims of the 6.9-magnitude earthquake that hit Cebu on Tuesday evening.
US Ambassador to the Philippines MaryKay Carlson offered her condolences to the victims.
“The US Embassy community offers our deepest condolences to those affected by the earthquake in Cebu. Our thoughts and prayers are with all affected. We stand ready to support the Philippine government’s response as #FriendsPartnersAllies,” Carlson said.
Similarly, the European Union (EU) Ambassador Massimo Santoro and the EU Humanitarian Aid in the Asia-Pacific, in a post on X, offered their sympathies to the earthquake victims: “EU humanitarian partners on the ground stand ready to assess urgent needs & deliver aid.”
The Embassy of Canada also pledged to help address the province’s immediate needs.
“Canada stands ready to coordinate closely with Philippine government agencies, humanitarian partners, and the international community to help meet urgent needs,” the Embassy of Canada said.
Australian Ambassador to the Philippines Marc Innes-Brown and Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines Endo Kazuya likewise shared their messages of solidarity.
“Australia extends its condolences to those impacted by the Cebu earthquake. Our thoughts are with the families and friends of those killed and injured,” Brown said.
“My heartfelt sympathies go to the victims and their families. We stand in solidarity with you during these challenging times,” Kazuya added.
The Czech and Indian Embassies in Manila also sympathized with the victims in Cebu and other neighboring provinces.
In an X post, the Chinese Embassy in Manila offered its condolences to the victims affected by the earthquake.
Similarly, the Embassies of France, Russia, Sweden, New Zealand, and Spain also extended their support and messages of solidarity to the Philippines.
