A sudden thunderstorm triggered flash floods in central Bukidnon, leaving at least three people dead and five others missing, authorities confirmed on Thursday.
The Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) in Northern Mindanao said the fatalities were all residents of Valencia City, Bukidnon, the area worst hit by flooding that began Wednesday night.
The fatalities were identified as Larry Labay, 53; Jaya Viña; and 13-year-old King Winston Adran.
Still unaccounted for are Andrea Bistal, 2; Deejay Ark Viña, 4; Princess Kyarah Dacoycoy, 17; Consolacion Dina, 48; and Johnny Borbon.
Floodwaters affected 808 families, or 1,851 individuals in the city, prompting Mayor Amie Galario to mobilize relief and medical operations.
Classes have been suspended until further notice.
