Almost half of Filipino adults (47 percent) are optimistic that their quality of life will improve in the next 12 months, according to the most recent quarterly national survey by leading survey research institute Social Weather Stations (SWS).
The national Social Weather Survey of June 25 to 29 showed that 37 percent of Filipino adults believed that their lives would stay the same in the next 12 months.
Net Personal Optimism was particularly high in Metro Manila and the Visayas, with a 1-point increase in score from April 23 to 28, to June 25 to 29.
In the Visayas, Net Personal Optimism rose from a high score of +29 in April to a very high score of +36 in June. Meanwhile, in Metro Manila, it increased from +40 to +44, maintaining an excellent rating.
In contrast, Mindanao experienced a drop from an excellent score of +40 to a very high score of +38.
The survey also revealed that 35 percent (Gainers) of Filipinos said that their quality of life was better twelve months ago, while 23 percent (Losers) said it got worse, and nearly half, or 42 percent (Unchanged), said it remained the same.
The face-to-face survey was conducted from June 25 to 29, with 1,200 respondents aged 18 and older. Its sampling error margins are ±3 percent for national percentages and ±6 percent for each region: Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
