E-sabong whistleblower Alyas “Totoy”—identified as Julie “Dondon” Patidongan expressed full trust in the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) ability to resolve the missing ‘sabungeros’ case.
He remarked on Wednesday, when, together with his brother Elakim, he visited the DOJ-National Prosecution Service (DOJ-NPS).
“For now, let us let SOJ [Jesus Crispin Remulla] handle it… the case has been filed,” he told justice reporters in Filipino.
Prosecutor General Richard Anthony Fadullon clarified that the DOJ is still reviewing the complaints.
Earlier, Remulla claimed that Elakim was assisted by the government back to the Philippines from Cambodia after gaming tycoon Charlie “Atong” Ang asked him to hide and helped him secure a fake passport.
For its part, however, the camp of Ang denied the allegations, noting the Patidongans’ statements were self-serving.
Meanwhile, Justice Secretary Remulla has repeatedly stressed that the bones found in Taal Lake corroborate Patidongan’s statements, making him a credible witness.
Aside from Patidongan, relatives of the missing ‘sabungeros’ also filed complaints against Ang last week, including for multiple murder, serious illegal detention, and direct bribery, among others.
