Not K-pop but Korean fraudsters.
This is how the Bureau of Immigration (BI) described the two Korean couple who were arrested for being wanted by the Interpol and authorities in their country for large-scale fraud.
Immigration Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado identified the couple as Choi Jeongyun and Kim Minwoo, both 41-years-old, who were arrested at their residence along Gallery Drive, Bgy Carmona, Makati City.
Viado said the two were arrested after the BI received information from the South Korean government about the crimes Choi and Kim committed.
BI records show that the two aliens are already overstaying, as they both arrived in the country was in 2019 and have not left since then.
Choi and Kim are both subjects of red notices by the Interpol due to arrest warrants that were issued against them by the Chucheon district court in Korea.
Authorities alleged that the couple engaged in voice phishing operations on the internet which enabled them to defraud their victims of more than $840,000 by pretending to be bankers or representatives of a financial institution.
Choi allegedly worked as a profit manager while Kim was employed as manager and telemarketer for the syndicate since 2017.
