The government has announced the opening of an immigration counter at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) – Terminal 3, exclusively for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).
This counter, located next to the OFW Lounge, is part of a long-term plan by the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) to address the ongoing issue of crowding in the departure area.
Consuelo Bungag, head of the airport media affairs division, stated that initial work for the project was conducted by MIAA before the management of airport operations was transferred to private operator New NAIA Infra Corporation (NNIC).
The new facility is an extension of the existing immigration counters at Terminal 3 and includes six additional counters. Three of these counters are fully operational, while the remaining three are in the process of being set up. To further expedite processing, 25 additional immigration officers have been deployed.
Additionally, a desk from the Department of Migrant Workers is available to assist OFWs with immediate concerns, including issues related to Overseas Employment Certificates.
The adjacent OFW Lounge at Terminal 3, inaugurated in July 2024 by NNIC and managed by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, offers free meals, Wi-Fi, charging stations, and assistance desks.
