A month after the launching of its Kaagapay Donations Portal, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has already received P1.4 million from donors for the agency’s disaster response operations and clients of DSWD-managed centers and residential care facilities (CRCFs).

“In a few weeks’ time, we have received donations for the DSWD as well as for our foundations, non-government organizations (NGO), and non-profit corporations published on our Kaagapay Donations Portal,” Assistant Secretary Maria Paz Rafael of the Partnerships Building and Resource Mobilization (PBRM) said in a mix of English and Filipino.

According to her, the Kaagapay Donations Portal is designed to provide donors with an efficient and more convenient way to extend their donations to charitable groups or social welfare and development agencies (SWDAs), the agency’s disaster relief operations, as well as the CRCFs.

The DSWD official in a media forum said the donors are the ones who identify which organizations they will send their donations to, which will go directly to the recipients and which will not pass through the DSWD.

“Donors can go through the Kaagapay Donations Portal and find a facility or sector where they can donate. The portal also shows which region as well as what their wish list ist,”  Rafael said, adding that both local and international donations are now being accepted.

“You can now make international donations through credit cards. Everyone who has a JBC, Mastercard, and Visa card abroad, can now donate through the Kaagapay Donations Portal,” she added.

The DSWD official stressed the agency only accepts support for its disaster relief operations and for CRCFs—not for other agency programs like the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) or Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS).
