President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. hailed the Filipinos’ ‘shared humanity’ as he extended his well-wishes to the Muslim community on Eid’l Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan, on Monday.

In a solidarity message released by the Palace, President Marcos highlighted the significance of the celebration, calling it a reminder of shared humanity and the importance of unity.

“In spirit, the Festival of Breaking the Fast is more than a celebration; it is a testament to our desire for shared humanity, strengthening bonds of family and friendship, as well as unity among our peers,” Mr. Marcos said.

The president urged Filipinos to continue demonstrating compassion and service to others, taking inspiration from the values upheld during Ramadan.

“Let us continue to be inspired to extend our hands in service, uplift those in need, and help find joy in those who seek it,” he said.

He also called on citizens to embrace inclusivity and work toward a harmonious society, echoing the teachings of Prophet Muhammad.

“Only through living with compassion and inclusivity can we appreciate and understand what Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) sought to accomplish — a life where harmony and love prevail upon us all,” he added.

The president concluded his message by encouraging reflection and acts of kindness as the nation moves forward.

“May the acts of kindness, engaging conversations, and delightful activities that bring communities together define our actions moving forward. Let us continue to embody the virtues of dedication and faith so we can foster a more equitable and peaceful Bagong Pilipinas,” President Marcos said.

Eid’l Fitr, one of the most significant Islamic holidays, is traditionally marked with prayers, feasts, and gatherings with family and friends.

The occasion also serves as a time to give thanks and offer charity to those in need.

President Marcos earlier declared April 1 a regular holiday to allow Filipinos to celebrate the festival.
