Bangsamoro Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdulrauf Guialani announced on Sunday evening that Eid’l Fitr will be officially observed on Monday, March 31, 2025, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
The confirmation came after the Bangsamoro Darul-Ifta’ conducted simultaneous moon-sighting observations across various locations in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
Sheikh Guialani underscored the importance of unity in observing the Islamic calendar and urged the Muslim community to reflect on the spiritual significance of Eid.
“By the authority vested in me, as the Bangsamoro Mufti, I, Abdulrauf Guialani, hereby announce that the crescent moon was sighted today. Therefore, Eid’l Fitr and first day of Shawwal will be tomorrow, Monday, March 31, 2025, In Shaa Allah,” Sheikh Guialani declared.
Mosques and prayer grounds across the BARMM are expected to host Eid congregational prayers, as families prepare to celebrate this sacred and joyous occasion.
BARMM Interim Chief Minister Abdulraof Macacua also released his message following the announcement. He extended greetings to Muslim Filipinos in the country and worldwide as they break their month-long fast.
“Eid’l Fitr is a time of joy and reflection. After a month of fasting and prayer, we are reminded that the values we practice—discipline, compassion, humility and faith—must not end with Ramadan. They are meant to guide us in our daily lives, especially as we face the ongoing challenges of our time,” he said.
Macacua imparted messages of resilience and unity amid hardships and differences as the Muslim community continues its peaceful transition under his leadership. “Healing is not a distant hope; it is something we continue to work on each day.”
“This Eid, I call on all Bangsamoro to carry forward the spirit of Ramadan. Let us lead with kindness, act with courage, and keep our hearts open to peace… May this Eid renew our strength, deepen our unity, and bring peace to our region and beyond,” the BARMM chief added.
President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. has earlier declared April 1 as a public holiday in observance of Eid’l Fitr.
