The Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity (OPAPRU) on Friday announced its readiness to assist the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) in implementing its Barangay Development Program (BDP).

OPAPRU Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. emphasized the agency’s commitment to this effort through its “Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan” (PAMANA) program, which is designed to improve the quality of life for Filipinos living in areas affected by conflict.

“The OPAPRU is ready to support and complement the NTF-ELCAC’s BDP through the socio-economic initiatives under the PAMANA program,” Galvez said in a statement.

This follows National Security Adviser (NSA) Secretary Eduardo Año’s recommendation to designate OPAPRU as the co-chair of NTF-ELCAC’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration and Amnesty Program Cluster.

The proposal, recently approved by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., aligns with the PAMANA program.

“With that, we convey our sincere thanks to Secretary Año for his trust and confidence as we work to address the local communist insurgency and achieve good governance in our localities,” Galvez said, expressing his full support to Año in light of recent national developments.
