Students from state universities on Tuesday held various protest actions to commemorate the 39th anniversary of the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution.
Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) students staged a walkout protest due to the institution’s non-suspension of classes.
Amid ongoing activities set for the day, various groups stormed out of the classrooms following a resolution released by the PUP Student Council Assembly (SCA).
“The PUP SCA calls on all Iskolars ng Bayan in the Manila Campus Undergraduate Level to walk out of their classes in protest,” read the resolution.
Meanwhile, the Bulacan State University (BulSU) community also participated in a walkout protest at the school’s Heroes Park.
“Our rejected calls to the university administration for a class suspension, or even an alternative learning day, only encourages us to commemorate the spirit of People Power,” the BulSU Student Government said in a Facebook post.
