BOC seizes P128-m smuggled fuel, tanker

GOVERNMENT agents on Tuesday seized in Subukin Port in San Juan, Batangas a motor tanker and several trucks carrying smuggled fuel valued at P128 million.

A composite team led by the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service-Manila International Container Port said the confiscation consisted of 217,000 liters of smuggled diesel.

At P60 per liter, the 217,000 liters of fuel was estimated at P13 million. Additionally, the motor tanker was valued at P60 million, while the 11 lorries were valued at a total of P55 million, or P5 million each.

Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio said the seizure of the motor tanker and trucks resulted from the swift and decisive action of the CIIS-MICP agents.

The operation was also conducted with the help from the Philippine Coast Guard and Criminal Investigation Detection Group in Batangas.
