The Philippine Navy is set to participate in the fifth “Multilateral Naval Exercise Komodo” (MNEK) scheduled to be held in Bali, Indonesia, from February 15 to 22.

According to the Navy, the contingent will be accompanied by their offshore patrol vessel BRP Ramon Alcaraz (PS-16).

In the latest briefing in Camp Aguinaldo, Navy spokesperson Capt. John Percie Alcos said the Philippine Marine Ready Force will be sending a naval task group that includes BRP Ramon Alcaraz and is “committed to figure in various surface and non-warfare related events and serials.”

“As a major exercise in the region, MNEK focuses on enhancing relations and cooperation among participating nations in maritime security operations and humanitarian assistance and disaster response. This exercise allows the PN to deepen ties with regional and global partners, promoting maritime security through combined operations and discussions,” Alcos said.

By joining MNEK’s international fleet review and the maritime security symposium, Alcos said the Philippine Navy reaffirms its dedication to promoting peace and stability in the region.

MNEK is an annual military exercise conducted by the Indonesian Navy, spanning the Indian and Pacific Oceans. The inaugural naval exercise was held in 2014 in Batam City, Indonesia.
