Thousands of Batangueños gathered in the town of Bauan for a prayer rally, urging peace to reign in the province of Batangas. The event was organized to promote unity, faith, and peace ahead of the upcoming elections.
The program began with a Walk for Peace at around 12:30 p.m., starting from Bauan Technical High School and ending at Plaza Orense. The walk symbolized the collective aspiration of Batangueños for a peaceful and orderly election.
Various sectors of society participated, including religious leaders, government officials, the LGBTQ community, and Bauan residents, coming together to pray for peace and order in the province.
The event was also attended by notable personalities such as Vice Mayor Jay Manalo Ilagan, a gubernatorial candidate; senatorial aspirant and SAGIP party-list Rep. Rodante Marcoleta; former Rep. Raneo Abu; and local government officials from Bauan and the second district of Batangas.
In their messages, the politicians emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation instead of political conflict and division.
“We are screaming for continuous peace. We are screaming for unity. We are here, offering our lives for unity, for peace in our municipality, our district, our province, our nation,” said Abu in his message delivered in Tagalog.
Ilagan also reiterated his commitment to the people of Batangas. He said his constituents can count on him to lead them towards a brighter future. “We are taking a single direction towards one destination: a world-class Batangas,” he said.
According to United Batangas for Peace, the organizer of the prayer rally, the event was not just about the elections, but also a step toward maintaining a culture of peace in Batangas.
As the elections draw near, the gathering serves as a reminder that true public service should be rooted in integrity, respect, and peace.
