Pixar’s first original series to premiere on Disney+

Pixar Animation Studios is set to launch its first-ever original series, Win or Lose, on Disney+ on Feb. 19. The show delves into the intertwined stories of eight characters as they prepare for their big championship softball game, highlighting the insecurities of kids, their overprotective parents, and even a lovesick umpire.

Carrie Hobson, who wrote, directed, and executive produced the series with Michael Yates, drew inspiration from her own experience playing softball.

“Softball was the perfect backdrop for the show,” Hobson said. “The game can bring out the best and worst in people. The calmest person can lose their temper, and when it comes to winning and losing, the consequences are nothing, and yet, they’re everything.”

The concept of exploring different perspectives was born out of everyday life at Pixar. Yates explained, “Carrie and I were officemates on Toy Story 4. We’d often have different reactions to the same situation. We realized that our own experiences shape how we perceive events, and we wanted to tell a story that illustrated that.”

The series features an all-star cast, including Will Forte, Rosie Foss, Josh Thomson, Milan Elizabeth Ray, Rosa Salazar, Dorien Watson, and many more.

Win or Lose is produced by David Lally, with music by composer Ramin Djawadi and original songs by CAMPFIRE and Djawadi.
