Manila, Philippines – FPJ Panday Bayanihan partylist first nominee Brian Poe expressed support for frontliners during the Bureau of Quarantine’s (BOQ) 125th anniversary celebration on Tuesday, January 7. Poe highlighted the critical role of BOQ in safeguarding public health, especially in the face of emerging infectious diseases such as monkeypox and Human Metapneumovirus.
“The BOQ is a crucial pillar in the Philippine universal healthcare system with their dedication to preventing, controlling, and mitigating infectious diseases,” Poe said.
“FPJ Panday Bayanihan stands united with their vision to establish a strong health institution that protects and uplifts our communities from the spread of diseases.” Poe added.
Support for health workers is one of the legislative agenda of the FPJ Panday Bayanihan partylist, in its commitment to support the needs of various sectors. This includes frontliners, farmers and fisherfolk, transport workers, urban poor communities, youth leaders, and the informal sector.
Brian Poe also reaffirmed the Partylist’s commitment to pushing for the rights and welfare of frontliners, following the advocacy of Sen. Grace Poe, who championed the special risk allowance for healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Partylist is committed to continuing the legacy of Senator Poe by advocating for extended support to all frontliners, particularly those crucial to public health, such as the BOQ.
Key measures being championed include the regularization of barangay health workers, enhanced legal protection for volunteers and disaster responders, and the passage of the Magna Carta for Disaster Risk Reduction Workers—all aimed at advancing progress in public health and ensuring the well-being of those who serve on the frontlines.
“FPJ Panday Bayanihan is poised to be your partner in advancing this agenda, ensuring that we are ready to support Filipino frontliners through legislation, making certain they are never left behind.” Poe said.
