The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), led by Acting Regional Director Police Brigadier General Anthony Aberin, intensified efforts to combat illegal gambling in Metro Manila as part of its commitment to maintaining peace and order in the region.
The NCRPO’s strategy includes intelligence-driven operations, strict enforcement of anti-gambling laws, and community engagement.
Partnerships with local government units and barangays also strengthened efforts to dismantle gambling operations at the grassroots level.
From November 23, 2024, to December 20, 2024, the NCRPO reported notable progress in its anti-illegal gambling campaign.
Through coordinated efforts with intelligence units, 808 operations were conducted across NCRPO districts, resulting in the arrest of 2,010 individuals and the confiscation of Php493,182.50.
The most common violations identified included Cara y Cruz, playing cards, betting, dice games, EZ2, and lotteng.
PBGEN Aberin lauded the dedication and proactive efforts of NCRPO personnel in addressing illegal gambling within their areas of responsibility.
“We are committed to eradicating these illegal activities that harm our communities. The NCRPO’s intensified campaign against illegal gambling is aligned with the PNP’s thrust for effective enforcement of all laws. In this campaign, public participation is crucial; thus, we urge everyone to report any illegal gambling activities in their area,” stated the NCRPO chief.
In addition to enforcement, Team NCRPO is committed to maintaining transparency and accountability within its ranks.
Internal monitoring ensures that no police personnel are complicit in gambling operations. Aberin also reiterated that any member found guilty of involvement in illegal gambling will face administrative and criminal charges.
