THE Philippine National Police-Internal Affairs Service (PNP-IAS) has asserted that they are conducting an “unbiased” investigation on a police officer who allegedly fired his gun amid a traffic jam on Makati Ave., Makati City.
“We are exercising our motu proprio authority to thoroughly investigate this incident and address any lapses in operational procedures,” PNP-IAS inspector general Brigido Dulay said in a statement.
He said they will closely examine the events leading to the firearm discharge, focusing on potential violations of police procedures or misconduct.
“Our mission is two-fold; to oversee the actions of PNP personnel, and to preserve the public’s trust in the police force,” Dulay said.
“Accountability is a cornerstone of our commitment to upholding the integrity of the PNP.
Any officer found violating the law or standard procedures will face appropriate consequences,” he added.
ACT Teachers party-list Rep. France Castro claimed earlier she personally saw the incident from her vehicle on the night of Dec. 11 at Bonifacio Global City, in Taguig City, She later corrected herself, saying it happened in Makati.
