The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) encountered aggressive actions from several Chinese vessels, including the China Coast Guard (CCG) and People’s Liberation Army Navy.

At approximately 6:30 AM, CCG vessel 3302 fired water cannons at the BRP Datu Pagbuaya, targeting its navigational antennas while positioned 16 nautical miles from Bajo de Masinloc.

Following this initial attack, CCG 3302 sideswiped the BRP Datu Pagbuaya and launched a second water cannon assault shortly thereafter.

Other PCG vessels, including the BRP Teresa Magbanua, faced blocking and dangerous maneuvers from PLA Navy vessel 500 and CCG 503.

“The PCG and BFAR reaffirm their commitment to protecting the rights and safety of our fishermen within our maritime jurisdiction. We will continue to be vigilant in safeguarding our national interests in the West Philippine Sea,” the joint statement from PCG and BFAR read.
