A CLASH between soldiers from the Army’s 2nd Infantry Division (2ID) New People’s Army (NPA) rebels broke out anew over the weekend in the boundary of barangays Pag-asa and Dumagmang, both of Labo, Camarines Norte.
According to the 201st Infantry Brigade, the troops were conducting routine security operations in response to a report by the local villagers on the presence of armed groups in their community.
The firefight started Saturday morning when the rebels fired upon the approaching troops from ambush position.
The encounter lasted for about 25 minutes, and ended as the insurgents fled, bringing along an undetermined number of their wounded comrades.
No casualty was reported from the government side.
