Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) Director Winnie Quidato on Tuesday said that some former Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) are now rebranding themselves as Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) companies, and some are operating in small groups.
“The large POGO companies that we have raided before, or those that existed previously, are now breaking down into smaller groups. Some are even rebranding themselves as BPOs,” Director Quidato stated.
Furthermore, it was reported that during a raid in Pampanga, these groups were renting 45 houses in a subdivision.
“It would be great if they were truly legitimate POGOs, but because they have been mixed up with so many problems, their reputation has suffered,” Quidato remarked.
“Hopefully, this won’t happen to BPOs,” he added.
Senator Risa Hontiveros, meanwhile, emphasized the importance of addressing this issue, noting that BPO is one of the top revenue generators in the country’s economy.
