DAR condones P727m debts of agrarian farmers

The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) has issued 6,707 certificates of condonation and release of mortgage (CoCRoMs) to 5,549 farmer-beneficiaries of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program in Negros Oriental.  

Lawyer Sheila Enciso, DAR-Central Visayas regional director, said the amnesty program covered 71,580.42 hectares of agricultural land.

City, freeing the farmers from their unpaid land amortizations Enciso said the reprieve has relieved the agrarian reform beneficiaries from paying a total of P727.75 million in debts, “marking a pivotal step in ensuring their economic independence.”

Republic Act No. 11953 or the New Agrarian Emancipation Act empowering the agricultural sector and enhancing economic independence for the Filipino farmers.

Enciso said 75 certificates of land ownership were awarded to 98 farmer-beneficiaries covering 73.13 hectares, while 2,225 electronic titles were given to 1,642 others covering 2,269.53 hectares of farmlots in the province.
