LTO probes viral SUV incident involving Senate car at EDSA busway

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) launched an investigation into a recent viral video showing a sports utility vehicle (SUV) allegedly disregarding traffic rules and endangering Department of Transportation (DOTr) Special Action and Intelligence Committee for Transportation (SAICT) enforcers.

Initial findings suggest that the SUV in question was not assigned an official protocol plate, according to the LTO. The agency is now coordinating closely with the DOTr-SAICT to obtain more specific details about the incident, which will assist in identifying its registered owner.

The LTO said a show cause order (SCO) will be issued to both the SUV’s registered owner and the driver to explain multiple traffic violations, including disregarding traffic signs and improper vehicle operation.

“Your LTO will also coordinate with the Office of Senate President Francis Escudero all the information that we would obtain from our investigation regarding this incident,” the agency noted in its statement.

The LTO reminded the public that it will not tolerate any disregard for traffic laws, underscoring its commitment to enforcing road safety regulations across the country.

Escudero earlier urged the LTO to identify the SUV driver using the Senate protocol plate who disobeyed traffic laws and disrespected DOTr enforcers.
