NDRRMC hosts meeting to prepare for bad weather

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) convened to ensure comprehensive preparedness and response operations at local and regional levels for potential impacts from the latest weather disturbance.

Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr., who chairs the NDRRMC, led the meeting with key officials, including Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Administrator Undersecretary Ariel Nepomuceno, Assistant Secretary Bernardo Rafaelito Alejandro IV, and Assistant Secretary Jekereen Joy Casipit.

The DND, OCD, and other NDRRMC member agencies are closely monitoring developments and implementing necessary measures to reduce risks and enhance community safety.

Parts of Luzon, particularly Batangas and the Bicol Region, are still recovering from Severe Tropical Storm Kristine. Meanwhile, Northern Luzon was drenched by Super Typhoon Leon last week, which impacted Batanes; this area had also been hit by Super Typhoon Julian in early October.

“The NDRRMC urges all citizens to stay informed and heed official advisories as the situation develops. The council remains committed to safeguarding lives and properties across the nation,” the OCD stated in a release.
