SN Aboitiz Power’s Ambuklao and Binga Hydroelectric Power Plants (HEPP) in Benguet, along with the Magat HEPP in Isabela, were recognized as Gawad Kaligtasan and Kalusugan regional awardees.
This acknowledgment was bestowed after passing the National Safety and Health standards established by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in the Cordillera Administrative Region on October 7 and DOLE-Region 02 on October 10, respectively.
Joseph Yu, SNAP’s President and CEO, expressed gratitude for this recognition and highlighted the significance of prioritizing safety and well-being to ensure a resilient future.
“We are immensely honored to receive this recognition. Over the years, we’ve built and fostered our safety culture to what it is now. Our people are our greatest assets, and our communities are our biggest partners. By prioritizing their safety, health, and well-being, we are not only protecting them but also paving the way for a more resilient and sustainable future,” he said.
Meanwhile, Emerito Narag, Assistant Regional Director of DOLE-CAR, commended the awardees for their diligence, commitment, and innovative spirit in promoting occupational safety and health (OSH) for employees.
SNAP’s Benguet and Magat facilities have consistently qualified for both national industry category awards and GKK regional awards.
In 2022, SNAP-Benguet was recognized as the national industry champion and received a nomination from DOLE for the prestigious ASEAN-Occupational Safety and Health Network (ASEAN-OSHNET) Excellence Awards.
Earlier this year, SNAP was awarded by ASEAN-OSHNET in Singapore for its health and safety initiative, the sole Philippine delegation among this year’s nine winners of the Excellence Award.
The ASEAN-OSHNET network comprises OSH institutions or units from labor departments across ASEAN nations. Since 2016, it has honored businesses for their outstanding safety and health initiatives.
The GKK award, on the other hand, is bestowed by DOLE to recognize exceptional achievements by businesses and individuals in implementing effective occupational safety and health programs that cater to the needs of employees, workplaces, and their communities.
