NEWLY installed Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Fleet commander Commodore Arnaldo Lim said it would not always be smooth sailing for the vessels, but strong faith in the Almighty would allow them to overcome the turbulence.
I am fully aware that the task ahead is big, and that we won’t always be sailing on the tranquil waters, but we could get to experience turbulent ones, so I will draw inspiration and encouragement for the Word of God in Psalm 89:9- “You rule over the surging sea; when it waves mount up, you still them,” Lim said during the turnover of command held Monday at the PCG headquarters in Port Area, Manila.
Lim replaced Rear Admiral Edgar Ybañez at the change of command presided by PCG commandant Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan.
In his remarks, Gavan said “life in the Coast Guard is not what we think we are. It is what the organization sees you are and how you can best serve in achieving our goals.”
Ybañez expressed optimism that the fleet would have bright future under Lim’s leadership.
“Though I will miss the daily interactions and the vibrant energy each of you brings, I am excited for the future that lies ahead for all of you. I have no doubt that you will continue to uphold the values and standards that define the Coast Guard Fleet,” he said.
