NAIA advises passengers to arrive earlier due to busier terminal

Local airlines are advising travelers to allow extra time when heading to Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) – Terminal 2 starting November 5 since all airlines currently operating out of Terminal 4 are temporarily relocating to Terminal 2.

“Expect a busier Manila Terminal 2 from November 5. We anticipate a higher passenger volume at Terminal 2 as three airlines transfer their domestic flights from another NAIA terminal,” stated the management of Philippine Airlines.

Terminal 4, also known as the Manila Domestic Passenger Terminal of NAIA, will temporarily close for renovation beginning November 6. This closure is part of an ongoing terminal rehabilitation and reshuffling initiative by New NAIA Infrastructure Corp. (NNIC).

Philippine Airlines encourages travelers to check in online and arrive at the airport early to allow for extra time to undergo airport procedures, at least three hours prior to departure for domestic flights.

Travelers are also advised to monitor flight status and stay updated, ensure luggage is properly labeled, and pay attention to public announcements and signs within the terminal for the latest information.

The airline noted that there will be no change to Philippine Airlines’ terminal assignments at Manila airport. All PAL domestic flights will continue to depart from and arrive at NAIA Terminal 2, while international flights will still operate from NAIA Terminal 1.

Meanwhile, CebGo management previously announced that effective November 7, 2024, all CebGo (DG) flights to and from NAIA will be moved from Terminal 4 to Terminal 2.

The affected flights include routes to and from Busuanga, Caticlan, Cebu, Legazpi, Masbate, Naga, San Jose, Siargao, and Surigao.

The renovation of Terminal 4 aims to address aging infrastructure and enhance the overall passenger experience. The private operator announced in a press release that they will focus on safety upgrades, improve passenger flow, and modernize facilities.

The renovated terminal is expected to reopen in February 2025.

On average, Terminal 4 handles approximately 2,900 passengers each day, consisting of 1,400 arrivals and 1,500 departures. This represents 2.23% of NAIA’s total daily passenger volume.
